World Cold Brew Competition Recipe

This past weekend our mobile coffee van partners at Astro Coffee received honorable mention in the World Cold Brew Competition and used our Ethiopian Yirgacheffe as the base coffee.

What you'll need:

12oz bag of our Ethiopian Yirchacheffe

8 cups of water

Toddy Home Cold Brew System (You can also use a large mason jar as long as you have a way to filter your grounds. A cheese cloth will work, but you'll wind up with quite a bit of fines and sediment in your brew)

Burr Grinder

Colander

Ice

Recipe:

Begin by grinding your 12oz of Ethiopian Yirgacheffe coffee on the coarsest setting on your grinder.

Dump your ground coffee into your colander and sift out all the fines. This step removes a large amount of bitterness in the finished cold brew.

Add your sifted coffee into your toddy filter.

Pour in your 8 cups of room temperature water.

Stir the slurry for 1 minute until all grounds are completely saturated.

Place your mixture into the refrigerator for 24 hours.

Drain and filter your cold brew.

Serve in your favorite rocks glass over ice as this brew can be enjoyed at full strength concentrate, but also changes flavors as the ice melts, which is unbelievably fun to taste as well.

Most importantly... Enjoy!
